The meaning of Seny
Seny is an ancient Catalan word. While the rough translation would be something akin to ‘common sense’, that simple definition does not do justice to its full meaning.
The word also includes a strong dose of wisdom, and a dash of level-headedness. Add to it a serving of integrity, and you begin to approach the full sense of what seny means. ‘Seny’ sits at the heart of the commitment to our clients, a combination of commitment, integrity and perseverance –integrated into everything we do – to give the best advice to our clients.
Andrew Davis
Andrew has been focused on regional and state policy and politics for nearly two decades. He holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (Washington DC), and a PhD from the University of Nottingham (UK) in Political Science, where he focused on comparative social policy at the regional level in Europe. For most of the last decade, he represented the Government of Catalonia’s interests in the United States, Canada and Mexico, from 2008 until 2017.
As the Government of Catalonia’s chief political representative in North America, he worked on a myriad of policy initiatives with regional and
municipal governments, from trade and investment to health care to climate change, from open government and transparency to sustainable development. He also coordinated the negotiation and signing of bilateral accords between the Government of Catalonia and the states of Massachusetts (2012) and California (2015), in addition to numerous agreements with multilateral agencies linked to the United Nations in New York, as well as the development banks in Washington DC. This experience has allowed him and his team to create a strong network of contacts and intelligence in the local government international policy space, which allow them to quickly identify intelligence and opportunities for clients with specialized needs.
